Arsenal fans go nuts after striker spotted in training

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been handed a major injury boost ahead of tomorrow evening’s clash with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium with the news that Gabriel Martinelli is training.

The Brazilian youngster, who scored ten goals for the Gunners last season, was forced to pull out of the starting line-up ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Newcastle United.

Martinelli had been named in Arteta’s starting line-up, having been rested for the clash with West Bromwich Albion seven days earlier, only to suffer an ankle injury in the warm-up.

The versatile attacker was spotted crying on the Emirates Stadium turf, fearing that his injury luck had struck once again.

Issuing an update on Martinelli’s condition following the 2-0 triumph over the Magpies, Arteta said: “I am gutted. I was in my office before the game and one of the coaches came in and said that Gabi hurt himself, that he twisted his ankle.

“I went to the medical room and he was in tears. It didn’t look good. He was in a lot of pain and we’re going to have to see how he is. He was in pain so I imagine we’re not going to have good news with him.”

However, it emerged on Tuesday evening that Martinelli’s scan results had come back clear, easing any worries Arteta had about being without the talented youngster for a lengthy period of time once again, especially after he was sidelined between June and December with a serious knee injury.

Fortunately, Martinelli appears to be in a decent condition, with the Gunners uploading a video of the forward in action on the training ground on Wednesday morning, suggesting that he could be involved against Palace.

As expected, the sight of seeing Martinelli in action on the training ground has brought a sense of delight and relief to the Arsenal supporters, who soon flooded social media with a wave of comments about him being fit and not facing a lengthy spell on the treatment table.
